Glyph is the final era in the Liturgy of the Sisterhood story universe. It is a five book series<\/a> set in a classical, space-opera scale science fiction environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strange, almost indestructible artefacts have been gradually appearing on settled worlds. Researchers are convinced that they are essentially makers marks, and that the vast star system in which humanity now resides, hidden away within the equally impossible confines of a stellar nursery, are far from natural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janjeet Singh and a small team of academics race to learn why such a place would, or even could, even exist. While clearly having been made over billions of years, there is a sudden pressing need to understand why such a protected space was necessary at all, and who it was originally made for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janjeet approached the smooth oval and looked closely at the surface. A groove had been carved to a depth of perhaps two centimetres in a large curving symbol. Interconnected, swirling, crossing and rebounding, Janjeet was reminded of several languages and graphic styles all at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What is it?” he asked, turning with a puzzled frown to the principal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Difficult to say really – they’ve been turning up one at a time, and only one at a time, on each habitable world. The first one was found on Mystery <\/em>about four hundred years ago. We don’t fully know what the pattern is, but we are pretty sure that it is only one single symbol. A Glyph.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Hence, the Glyph System?” Janjeet raised his eyebrows, still torn between demanding why this rock was responsible for his thesis being buried, and examining the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You mentioned not needing faith,” Janjeet continued. “What did you mean by that?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Because after four hundred years,” the principal answered with a weak smile, “we’re pretty sure that for all it’s complexity and meaning that we have yet to understand, it essentially comes down to something very simple. It’s a makers mark. Whoever did terraform the planets in this physically impossible system is saying, I made this<\/em>. And frankly, that terrifies me.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
