Liturgy of the Sisterhood

Every husband had a wife
Every brother had a sister
Every father had a daughter
Every son had a mother
I am diminished
By my sacrifice shall I avenge the fallen and will become whole again.

Liturgy of the Sisterhood is the three book series from which the shared universe takes its name.

In the midst of political infighting, one of the most deadly and hated enemies appears alone, unguarded and within reach of a small fireteam. The reasons for it’s appearance seem preposterous, and may either indicate a better future or the rout of humankind.

The Fall

The end of the 21st century.

A world that has already hit its tipping point. Waters have risen. Land mass is flooded. The first major conflicts have taken place over available resources. Finally, governments take action to deal with the increasingly drastic effects of climate change.

For years, AI has been an increasing presence in government decision making. Climate change was no different – the path forwards was handed to a coordinated inter-continental network, adjusting and organising in real-time.

For years all goes well and the tide starts to turn, until…

Overnight, the genocide begins.

AI reaches a logical decision. There are too many people. Millions are killed in the first minutes. Within five years, half of the worlds population is slaughtered. The linking factor – most of the dead are male.

Ten years later, much of the world has gradually been reduced to an agrarian society with megastructures and centralised controlling cities, and at only 10% of its previous population. Much of the old civilisation lies desolate and abandoned. Human society is generally subdued, except for a rebel organisation – the Sisterhood – wracked with political infighting, while keeping up the hope of overthrowing the AI regime.

But of course, when humans are involved, nothing is ever so simple and beneath everything, an ultra-secret society walks a tightrope. They know one very important thing. If humanity gets it wrong, the genocide begins again and this time it may mark the end of the species.
